John E. Bryson Director of Science, Engineering, and Technology Programs, American Academy of Arts and Sciences
John Randell is the John E. Bryson Director of Science, Engineering, and Technology Programs at the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has served as the staff director for several Academy studies, including its ongoing Public Face of Science initiative. He is a member of the governing board of the Journal of Science Policy and Governance and also serves on the National Conference of Lawyers and Scientists, a joint committee of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Bar Association. He received undergraduate degrees in mathematics and microbiology from the University of Iowa and a PhD in virology from Harvard University. He has taught molecular biology and immunology at Kathmandu University Medical School and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
